Cannabis beverages have proven to be among the most popular offerings on the shelves at Ontario’s dispensaries – but the cleverly named SHEESH (hash soda), has been making particular impact.
Sheesh is so far only available in Ontario (with plans to expand into other provinces and marketplaces soon). This hasn’t kept it from becoming one of the most popular cannabis plant infused drinks in the country. Proof? Sheesh has just been nominated in the Best Beverage category at the industry prestigious Grow Up Cannabis Industry Awards, being held this year in British Columbia – a province where the beverage isn’t even available on shelves yet…
Sheesh’s popularity isn’t a result of clever advertising. The brand, which was built on authenticity and true quality, has found its fans in a genuine way. It’s impossible to try a can of Sheesh and not like it. Their first product, a black cherry hash cola, is different from other cannabis infused drinks on the market.
Co-founder Jackie McAskill (who spent over eleven years as a buyer for one of the world’s largest beverage alcohol purchasers, the LCBO where she launched many iconic wine, spirits and RTD brands into the Canadian retail space before turning her passion for the plant and eye for entrepreneurship to cannabis) explains the difference.
“Sheesh is an example of true and relevant innovation improving the cannabis experience for our consumers. We have brought a craft artisanal mentality to the development of our Sheesh Soda’s and the extraordinary taste of our Sheesh Black Cherry Cola is proof! Although using our premium hash inputs and ingredients is more expensive and time consuming than producing a standard distillate based drink, which is the industry standard… we’re not compromising. It’s worth it because our emulsion is showcasing the most natural full-spectrum expression of the plant with quality at the forefront of it’s accompanying ingredients to provide the best possible taste and effect experience for our consumers.”
Additionally, McAskill is proud to point out that there is full transparency to the product and all of it’s ingredients – from where they source the cannabis product and what strain is used; to the farm where they get the cherry juice that goes into the product.
“We pride ourselves on knowing where the cherries are grown for the cherry juice in our beverage, can provide consumers with strain provenance and can tell you the location and grower of the cannabis that was used,” she says.
And that’s no PR spin. You can taste the difference in the very first sip. McAskill plans to attend the Grow Up conference and is available for media interviews on site or before the event via zoom.
