Atheneum Cannabis announces the launch of its cannabis retail concept following the opening of its first shop in Vancouver, BC, located in the community of Kerrisdale, adjacent to the popular Minerva’s restaurant. The Atheneum team is led by former residents of the Kerrisdale community and over 30 years of retail experience. Despite Covid-19 presenting challenges with respect to completing its final inspections with the City of Vancouver, Atheneum is grateful for the support that it has had from the City representatives and local residents to move forward with its soft opening at the beginning of May.
With new products being introduced into the regulated cannabis market each week following Health Canada’s introduction of edible, topical and beverage legislation, Atheneum’s displays feature a wide variety of infused topicals and lotions, CBD and balanced oil/tincture formulas, capsules, infused beverages, balanced teas and edibles, in addition to some of the top premium flower and pre-roll brands available on today’s regulated market.
“Bridging the ‘quality’ and ‘value’ gap between the regulated and illicit cannabis markets has been an interesting challenge for Licensed Cannabis Retailers,” said Amanda Safarik, advisor and spokesperson to Atheneum Cannabis. “At Atheneum we are determined to narrow this gap through educating ourselves on the product offerings and production practices of federally licensed suppliers and sourcing only the highest-quality products, while also maintaining competitive prices for our valued customers. With limited access to regulated cannabis in the vicinity of Kerrisdale as well as our strong ties to the community, Kerrisdale was the ideal place for our flagship location.”
Safarik partnered with designer Janine Spartano to develop the retail concept, “the goal was to create a warm and inviting space where members of the community would feel welcomed by Atheneum’s dedicated team to learn more about this exciting new industry.”
Atheneum cannabis is located at 2431 West 41st Avenue and is open 10am to 10pm, everyday.
With the safety of the community in mind, special measures are currently in place to help prevent the spread of Covid-19, including:
- Immediate roll-out of Atheneum’s ‘Click-and-Collect’ express pick-up service, available at atheneumcannabis.com
- Safe distancing practices and encouragement of debit or credit card usage
- Routine sanitization throughout the store
