Actor Seth Rogen Enters the Cannabis Market with Recreational Brand, Houseplant

Today marks the official launch of Houseplant, a new brand of recreational Canadian cannabis founded by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg in collaboration with Canopy Growth (TSX:WEED,NYSE: CGC), a global cannabis and hemp company. Houseplant is the result of years of experience and dedication, with each element and expression thoughtfully designed to make it easier for people to learn to love cannabis as much as Houseplant does.

“Houseplant is a passion we’ve brought to life through drive and dedication,” said Seth Rogen, Co-Founder of Houseplant. “Every decision we’ve made for the business reflects the years of education, first-hand experience and respect we have for cannabis.”

“We are so proud to be launching in Canada, our home,” said Evan Goldberg, Co-Founder of Houseplant. “After spending five years diligently preparing for the launch of this company, we’re excited to be able to share our passion for cannabis with Canadians in this way.”

Houseplant is dedicated to product quality and consumer education; delivering only the highest quality cannabis product for Canadians. From the strategic partnership with Canopy Growth (the leader in Canadian cannabis production) to ensuring its product is grown in the best facilities where experts carefully oversee each plant’s growth, Houseplant strains are designed to satisfy both expert and new users. To ensure an intuitive shopping and consuming experience for customers, Houseplant is launching three strains over the coming months, each with a straightforward name—Houseplant Sativa, Houseplant Hybrid and Houseplant Indica—and an easily identifiable design.

The first strain, Houseplant Sativa, will be available for purchase in early April 2019 through provincially regulated retailers and online in British Columbia. The Houseplant Hybrid and Houseplant Indica strains along with softgels and pre-rolled joints will follow throughout the year, and will soon be available across all of Canada.

As Houseplant’s partner and the leader in cannabis production in Canada, Canopy Growth is contributing their expertise to support Houseplant’s creativity and vision through its cutting-edge research, state-of-the-art manufacturing capabilities and infrastructure.

“We have been getting to know the Houseplant team for quite a while now and continue to be impressed by their understanding of the cannabis consumer, attention to detail, and drive towards their vision,” said Mark Zekulin, President and Co-CEO of Canopy Growth. “We could not be more excited to partner with them and work towards our shared goal of making Houseplant one of the largest cannabis brands in the world.”

With overall consumer education at the center of its mission, Houseplant is committed to providing a responsible and enjoyable cannabis experience for all. As leaders in cannabis, we also have an obligation to build an industry that commits to changing everything that’s been wrong about cannabis. We are aware of the racial injustices that exist and will work closely with other industry leaders, legal teams, politicians and non-profits to help those unjustly incarcerated.
