Sundial Obtains Licence Amendments from Health Canada Increasing its Cultivation Footprint

Sundial Growers Inc. has received licence amendments from Health Canada for an additional 140,000 square feet of cannabis cultivation at its flagship facility in Olds, Alberta. Each of the 40 newly licensed Solaria Modules have been purpose-built for the cultivation of high-quality, small-batch cannabis using an individual “room” approach.

The amended licences and added cultivation space will allow Sundial to scale up production of its award-winning genetics, contributing to its vision of crafting the highest quality cannabis for both the adult-use and medical markets. The Olds site continues to accelerate its construction plan with the facility targeting full operational capacity by the end of summer 2019.

“Today is another big day for Sundial on our road to becoming one of the largest and most trusted cannabis companies in Canada,” said Sundial CEO, Torsten Kuenzlen. “This milestone is evidence that we are scaling operations quickly which will allow us to not only continue to supply the Alberta market but to expand into other regions across Canada.”

The additional cultivation space in the facility is expected to have a significant impact on the local economy in Olds and surrounding Alberta communities. Sundial is focused on its continuous progress in creating jobs and expects to employ more than 500 people once the facility is fully completed this year.
