Aurora Cannabis Partners with TIFF's 'Share Her Journey' to Help Empower Women in Film

As part of its ongoing commitment to the arts, Aurora Cannabis announced its support of Share Her Journey, a fundraising campaign organized by the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) that prioritizes gender parity while increasing participation, skills, and opportunities for women behind and in front of the camera. Aurora has already made a significant contribution and is working closely with the organizers on additional fundraising opportunities during the festival.

Scheduled activities in support of Share Her Journey include a Women’s Rally on Festival Street on September 8; a TIFF screening of This Changes Everything, an investigative look at gender disparity in Hollywood; and an industry panel discussion on the importance of diversity in film criticism, featuring Dr. Stacey Smith, as part of the Betty-Ann Heggie Speakers Series.

“TIFF is extremely grateful for Aurora’s generous contribution towards Share Her Journey and our mission towards greater gender parity,” said Maxine Bailey, vice president of advancement, TIFF. “Their support helps us continue to provide practical support, mentorship and skills development for women, and create a future film industry that represents the most diverse perspectives and range of voices on screen.”

Aurora’s contribution to Share Her Journey supports TIFF’s Media Inclusion Initiative and the talented women selected as this year’s Rising Stars. As an official corporate partner of TIFF, Aurora will outfit the Founders’ Lounge on the second floor of TIFF Bell Lightbox and will provide a botanically-inspired installation for guests to enjoy through the Festival.

“As one of the largest publicly-attended film festivals around the world, TIFF showcases cinematic arts on a national stage,” says Paula Whitmore, director, partnerships & events, Aurora. “We are proud to both partner with TIFF and support Share Her Journey and other initiatives that champion the arts, diversity, and equality – something Aurora believes in deeply.”
